New Regulations of Fumigation and ISPM Wood Packing Material
New regulatory requiretments governing the transportation of solid wood packaging material across international come into effect. The regulations to prevent the spread of pests at destinations countries
The regulations, which are based on the United Nation's International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) No. 15, provides that All types of wood packaging must be heat treated or fumigated prior to shipping. this Includes, but is not limited to; dunnage, crating, pallets, packaging blocks, drums, cases and skids.
The new requirements will be implemented by air express and cargo carriers, and will affect shipments destined to the following countries :
